Membership

Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) sustains an active community of organizations and individuals at the forefront of the social enterprise movement.

From enterprising non-profits and socially responsible for-profits to academics and consultants developing the field, SEA’s membership is as diverse as the movement itself. What SEA members have in common is a vision for systemic change through social enterprise.

SEA provides its members with the resources, connections and recognition they need to succeed. Through its knowledge center and newsletter, SEA spreads information, news and tools to help social enterprises do their work better. SEA’s member directory, chapter support networks and convening bring the field together and provide members with valuable connections. The SocialEnterprise.us job board, events portal and online marketplace allow members to promote their work on a national scale.

SEA offers three distinct membership categories to better support and accurately reflect our members’ varied contributions to the field. First discover which membership is right for you, and then review the benefits in detail in the chart below.

  • Social entrepreneurs are social enterprise enthusiasts who seek to learn more about social enterprise, meet like-minded colleagues and gain exposure to the field. SEA member benefits apply to the individual signing up for membership, and the annual membership fee is $100.
  • Social enterprises are organizations that provide programs, products and/or services that are designed to directly meet critical unmet needs, including nonprofit and for-profit organizations that marry the market-driven approach of a traditional business with a social mission. SEA member benefits apply to an unlimited amount of staff in the respective organization, and the annual membership fee is $350 (for organizations with annual revenue less than 1 million dollars) or $600 (for organizations with annual revenue greater than 1 million dollars).
  • Sector champions are intermediary organizations that have programs, products and/or services that are designed to support the work of social enterprises and build the field. Examples include investors, philanthropic institutions, consulting, legal and financial firms, as well as academic institutions. SEA member benefits apply to an unlimited amount of staff in the respective organization, and the members joining at this level have the option to choose from an annual membership fee of $1,000 or $5,000+.
