After several years working in finance, I founded Tiger Orchid Coffee Company (“TOC”) in 2011. Our mission is to create a network of small lot coffee producers who can produce and export high-quality coffees through sustainable business models. We took the concept from idea to exporting 22,000 pounds of coffee within three years. TOC operates in four communities in Mexico with approximately 40 producers.
TOC provides producers with crop financing, procures materials, provides seeds for nurseries, and links producers with technical assistance. Besides increasing their revenue by focusing on higher-margin quality coffee, we are also helping producers by creating positive externalities in deeply marginalized mountain regions.
