I started OUTsideIN in 2013 in an effort to create jobs for marginalized women in my tiny town in rural West Tennessee. Even though I had been home raising four kids, I believed I could dust off the accounting degree I had earned from the University of Tennessee at Martin and use it to make a difference in the lives of women who had not had the same opportunities as I had. We now make a garment bag from upholstery material which we have aptly named a “HangUP” because they are made by women with genuine HangUPs. The mission statement of OUTsideIN is to empower women by creating whimsical products and meaningful employment. OUTsideIN works when people who care about their neighbors and creating jobs for them buy our products.
