About This Event
Join us for an event-filled day of music and mural painting!
The New York City Mural Arts Project (NYC MAP) is part of the City’s effort to increase awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma that continues to surround mental illness. It will bring a community-designed mural to the Hell’s Kitchen area. The mural design comes from months of collaboration between people living with mental illness or substance use, the community at large, the Fountain House Gallery, and the lead muralist.
Everyone can take part in painting the mural during the Community Paint Fest on Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fountain House Gallery, 702 Ninth Avenue at 48th Street.
When finished the mural will be installed on the Port Authority Bridge on 34th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. The event will be part of an arts and wellness fair to celebrate local arts and community health. This event is suitable for all ages. The project is funded by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Fund for Public Health.
