Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington Food Service & Catering Enterprise prepares over 1,800 meals daily, providing nutritionally balanced, affordable meals to seniors in congregate sites and homes, students with disabilities, people struggling with mental health, those who are homeless and families in need across the Washington, DC metropolitan region.
For more than 10 years, the program has been “a business with a heart.” Through this enterprise, the organization contracts with city and government agencies, adult day programs, day shelters and schools managing large scale food preparation and meal delivery programs. With 641,000 men, women, and children at risk for hunger every day in the Washington metro area, their services bring these people healthy, fresh meals they otherwise would not have access to, feeding people in need.
In addition to providing meals, Catholic Charities Washington’s enterprise focuses on giving a hand up to those in the community by providing over 50 job opportunities, often hiring people with mental and developmental disabilities. The organization strives to strengthen the lives of those in need through the assistance it renders. Much of the business’ success is a result of its food service team’s hard work and dedication to its mission.
